Spizz of the ever changing names, the first single I bought by them had them as Spizz Oil and they had previously been Spizz 77, and later became Athletico Spizz 80 etc etc.

I hated Stop The Cavalry but this one is just brilliant, suppose I thought it was about me as that's where I always ended up :) Love the B side as well.
This vinyl plays really well considering it's got a crack in it!!

Bow Wow Wow - Go Wild In The Country

I won't pretend I'm an expert on the history of this band, I'll just repeat what everyone else probably knows that it was another Malcolm McLaren project with members of the original Ants joined by young singer Anabella Lwin.
I heard it, I liked it, I bought it :)

Classic one hit wonder, a shoe-in on any Eighties or New Wave compilation.
The scan makes the cover look white for some reason, it's actually light blue.

Ian Dury And The Blockheads - Hit Me With Your Rythhm Stick

Ian's most famous number and a number one single, the B side is brilliant as well.

For the record :) the A side is listed as "Ian And The Blockheads" and the B side is credited to "Michael Gallagher, John Turnbull, Davey Payne, Norman Watt-Roy, Charlie Charles, Chaz Blockhead And Ian Blockhead" phew!!

Ian Dury - What A Waste

The first single I bought from Ian Dury and it's still my favourite track by him.
Lucky enough to see him live just after this was released, a great show but never managed to see him again :(
Tracks were just listed as Ian Dury (no Blockheads), and the B side just as Wake up (without the "and make love with me").

Godley And Creme - Cry

This one was probably remembered more for the promo video which was pretty ground breaking at the time, I really liked this despite the lack of the clever lyrics which made me a fan of both 10cc and Godley and Creme's earlier stuff.
Although I've read on fan pages that most hate this.

I like the Offspring and I'm not sure why, a lot of their records sound similar.
This hit no.2 in the charts in 99 on the back of Pretty Fly, they have released better songs which didn't do as well.
The other tracks are better, Walla Walla is good and the remix of the A-side is interesting :)

Was really pleased to find an obscure (non blog, non english) site with a pile of old rare punk stuff, so I got 2 1976 Clash bootlegs, the Flipside vinyl collection and a few other compilations.
Just went to add them to the archive and found I already had every single track, and have had them for over 4 years :(
It's getting really hard to find stuff from that era that isn't widely available.

Thought about calling this selection "Sacrilege" as it didn't seem right to be using classic punk/new wave tunes in a dance orientated way, but from the first one I heard GHP's "Ray of Gob" I quickly changed my opinion Mark Vidler had made such a good job of it that I ended up searching for more.
Sort of lost interest when it became a bit more professional, so most of these are from about 5 years back and are mostly rough and ready mashes.
All have a punk/new wave link so hopefully you'll like them too.

One of my fave disco tunes of the late 70's due to it's superb beat which sounded brilliant in the clubs and disco's.
Brit funk band Hi-Tension only had this and the British Hustle hit the chart.
From what I remember of the album the rest of the tracks didn't come close to the brilliance of this which probably explains why they didn't become better known :(

Wah - The Story Of The Blues Part One

The biggest and most well known track from Wah, another track that makes you think the Eighties weren't as musically bad as some say they were.
I like the B side as well which is basically Mr Wylie having a dig at all those who doubted him, love the last few seconds where one of the backing singers gets a bit carried away.

The CD Version of "Story" sounds slightly slower, maybe because it was recorded that way or my vinyl just plays fast? (used to own a Sweet single "Ballroom Blitz" which finished over 30 seconds early, I took it back because it was speeded up without realising it was probably worth more as a rarity .. doh!).
