Jonathan Richman another of those artists you tend to associate with punk rock but when you listen all these years later you wonder why?
Still love most of these, I remember buying the Modern Lovers live LP at the time and played it to death, but cringe slightly when singing along to “I’m a little aeroplane nyow nyow” haha

I tend to either love or hate cover versions, if they are too similar to the original I'll label them as shite, or if a band has put their own distinctive mark on them I usually love them.

CBGB's And The Birth Of US Punk

A British compilation from about 2002, includes a few of the more obvious artists like the Ramones, Blondie and the Velvet Underground while missing some you would expect on a CBGB's comp like the Talking Heads and Patti Smith.
But this makes it a good comp as it includes some artists which are unexpected, such as the excellent Pere Ubu and Suicide plus the best version of Roadrunner.
