Shame about the break up as they made some great songs.
This 12 inch was a value for money disc as I reckon the two extra tracks are better than the A side including acquiesce which is probably my fave Oasis track.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Welcome To The Pleasure Dome 12XZTAS7

Briefly owned the standard 12" version of this but this version is superior by a mile so I just kept this one.
The 12 minute version of Pleasuredome features a nice opening dialogue (possibly by Geoffrey Palmer?) before launching into the main track.
Great collection of tracks on the B side with cover versions of T-Rex's Get it on and a live version of Springsteen's Born to run plus Happy hi.

Frankie's Christmassy tune came in a nice gift sleeve which was impossible not to tear if you wanted the listen to the record.
The nine and a half minute version of Power features Red Dwarf's Chris Barrie doing his best Mike Read and Ronald Reagan impressions before the song.
I wasn't sure where track 3 ends and 4 begins, also they are listed in the wrong order on the disc.

This one features a remixed version of Two tribes coming in at just under eight minutes, the B-side appears to be the same as the other disc.
Tracks 3 and 4 were listed in the wrong order on disc and cover.

Yes I admit I fell for the second great Rock n' Roll swindle of buying the multiple releases of every Frankie track during their golden period of the mid eighties.
This one was bought on 7", 12" and cassette.
I have the 7" and 2 x 12" versions left, although I didn't realise when buying them that my 2 12" version were exactly the same apart from one having a picture sleeve and one a plain black one.
I have some decent versions of the cassette versions with alternate mixes, here's the 12" version.

No Doubt - Hella Good

I like some of the early No Doubt although Gwen Stefani has gone down the more commercial R'n'B route over the last few years, which is her choice of course.
Found this recently behind one of my kid's cupboards and it looks like he never played it so not sure why he bought it? unless it was during that period he was going to be a superstar DJ before deciding to go off to college to be a film director instead?

I know some records are improved at a higher BPM this isn't one, Quite clearly states 45rpm but Pinky and Perky strike again if you try it? should be 33rpm.

Prodigy - Firestarter

Classic Prodigy and probably the track that most people will think of if you say the Prodigy.
I didn't have a CD player at the time this came out so had to search far and wide for a vinyl version, and could only find this 12" version which I'm glad I bought.
Molotov bitch ends suddenly but does on the CD version as well so must be normal.

Another band I like in places, a few album tracks and a couple of singles are real favourites of mine but the rest I find a bit ordinary.
This is a reasonable tune although I prefer the B side.
I have kept this due to the fact it's a big blue vinyl 12" which is a wonderous thing :)

A regret is that I'm pretty sure I've owned a complete range of coloured vinyls 7" and 12" over the years but sold them on to fund my "rent and food" habit, Even if some of the records weren't actually that good they are lovely things to look at.

Malcolm McLaren - Madam Butterfly

I really love this, I must have a love of opera buried deep in my subconcious.
Seemed a strange idea at the time, the ex manager of the sex pistols talking over Puccini's opera classic with a disco beat but it works wonderfully.
The B Side is classic 80's drum machines, synths and samples.

I think I prefer Forgotten Town but this is probably their next best song.
What a great voice Gary Christian has, they should have been bigger.

Motors - Forget About You

Early on the Motors did some really good pop songs, this is one of them, Here is the red vinyl 12'' Version.
The sticker on the front says "The vinyl is red, the label is blue, it's the Motors new single, forget about you".
The B Side of this is listed as 3 tracks but as they all run into one another without a noticeable break.

Something that used to irritate a bit about the 12" versions around in this era was the amount that had the same version as the 7", the main track here is only 2.50 long, although not as bad as the 12" version I had of "Oh bondage up yours" where the combined time of both tracks was less than 5 minutes!! but it was on blue vinyl and I later sold it for ten times what I paid for it so I shouldn't complain :)

I bought 3 Red Box singles (Chenko, For America and this one) but then for some reason missed anything else they did?
This remix version is a bit overblown and I prefer the standard version, but worth a listen if you've never heard it. Got the 7" of this somewhere.

These originals are from 1987, although a remixed version was released in 1994.

Superb, Brilliant etc I love this track :)
For some reason I couldn't get my hands on a copy of this locally and ended up taking a trip to London just to find it, I think I actually found it in the Rough Trade shop eventually, also came home with a bag full of other stuff so it was a really worthwhile trip (ah good days).

This one failed to hit the chart for some reason? which I don't understand as its as good as anything they released, the only complaint would be that at under 4 minutes it was a bit short for a New Order 12".
The B Side is an instrumental remixed version of the all time great tune Thieves Like Us.

New Order - Blue Monday

The original 12" version, which is quite famous for being the first single to hit the top 20 in the UK on 12" sales alone, and I believe it's still the biggest selling 12" single ever? I'm not sure if they ever did a 7" version but I imagine it's rare.
The B side is a remixed version of Blue Monday despite the title.

Television - Marquee Moon

Here we have another classic tune of the early new wave era.
The 12" version is the full nearly 10 minute version with stereo and mono versions, I actually bought the 7" version first which is the stereo version split into 2 parts over the 2 sides.
The reason for stereo and mono versions was probaly to impress young lads like myself who had only just got their first Stereo equipment and could listen in awe at different sounds coming out of the 2 speakers, and if it was all too much for us we could go back to the usual mono sound we were comfortable with :)
