Got bored the other day so grabbed a box of vinyl singles from upstairs to listen to a few, and decided to photograph them as I went.

So in no particular order here's what I've done so far 🙄

I always thought of Generation X as plastic punks, not to say I didn't like them (I did) but they seemed a bit too clean compared to a lot of the bands around at the time.
Here is the CD version of their debut album plus a few extras.
The track listing is different from the original vinyl with Gimme some truth not even included?

Generation X - Valley Of The Dolls

Came on "Puke coloured vinyl", despite that it's a great track from Mr Idol and the band.

Generation X - King Rocker

Another classic punk tune.
This song was available with multiple covers and vinyl colours featuring the band members.
Red vinyl with Billy Idol, Yellow with Mark Laff, Orange Vinyl with Bob Andrews and I had the Pink vinyl with Tony James picture on the front.
Never liked them enough to buy all 4 versions, also all the shops round our way only seemed to stock the pink one anyway?

Various - The Big Music

Another Vox magazine compilation album.
I didn't even have to buy the mag for this one, as I bought it at a boot sale for 50p :)
I think this is an excellent compilation, as the tracks are totally diverse with something for everyone.
Highlights include an alternate version of the Specials "Free Nelson Mandella", live tracks by Ian Hunter and Sinead O'Connor, Blondie's "Sunday girl" sung in French and artists as diverse as The Ramones and Jethro Tull.
Good stuff.

Various - Sound Of The Suburbs

The cover says 20 New Wave hits from the 70's and 80's and it's true the tracks are from those decades, but not sure if some of the tracks are really new wave?
Still it's a pretty good collection of tunes including a few compilation standards and some that rarely get a mention.
I think Lou Reed got star billing as his "Perfect day" remake was riding high in the charts at the time.
